A very active day in the forex market but a usual trading day for us. I will sum up the day trading report for the month of September in a day or two. It's the eight consecutive winning month for the major-pair system with +295-pip gains in the end. The system also did well with the yen-cross pairs and the 100-pip ea program.

Coping Well with Automated Trading Routine Friday and September

Europe Session
No. of signal alerts: 3
End-of-session results:
Majors - EUR/USD (-40 pips), AUD/USD (-70 pips SL) and USD/CHF (-20 pips)

No entry yet by the 100-pip program. The system had done what it was supposed to do - filtering out the bad market conditions like in this morning session.

So, September is nearing its end. The financial markets are still in turmoil state. Undoubtedly, the currency markets are heavily affected by the latest market uncertainties, literally minute- by-minute development. I am glad that my systems are able to hold their own ground so far.

There were some good profit-making opportunities today. I was surprised that my simplest strategy was actually producing the best results during this choppy month.

If you have followed all the major pairs setups consistently at the start of my trading sessions, you should have banked over 200 pips of profits for this month and over 1000 pips since 1 August.

If you have followed all the yen-crosses setups consistently at the start of my trading sessions, you should have banked over 500 pips of profits for this month and over 900 pips since 1 August, simply by using a low drawdown approach.

When the price seems to stall for some time and it does not move according to your plan, it is very likely that you are going to lose as the price eventually moves in the opposite direction. Today, we saw the end-of-session system did well once again as the price momentum continued to pick up soon after we entered. The price appeared to be stalling for the 100-pip setup.

Today it was the turn for the major pairs to outperform. We had got the bearish trade setups for for the US dollar.

Price Volatility + Tight Stops = Bad Trade Monday

Late Session
No. of signal recommendations: 1
End-of-session results:
Crosses: GBP/JPY (+155 pips !)

Unfortunately, I had my first trade of the week with the EA. It was an exact opposite of what we had last week.
My own EA trade entry level was poor this time round, and was affected by the sheer price volatility seen in today's action. I blamed the latest financial turmoils . There was a big price difference between the manual entry level and the EA setup. As a result, those who entered at the start of the trading session got a good paid off.

These results would definitely put me on guard in the coming days. Perhaps this would help too - Losing trades and how to cope - I will consider to lower my risk limit to a low 1- 2.5% per trade for now.

What a day ! Despite overseeing a strong reaction for the US dollar to retreat, my results were actually mixed for the day and still end up positive for the week ! Hope you had a few exciting, action-packed forex hours today and I will see you again next week.

Have a nice weekend!

GBP/USD +40 & 15 pips (Interbank FX)

US and Late Session

We positioned ourselves well and made some really good efforts this morning. Unfortunately, I can confirm to you that the EA hadn't enter any position. It was quite a close call with the GBP/USD, give or take 2-3 pips, else we would be sitting with profits right now...

Update: Apparently, some did make profits with the GBP/USD setup on the InterbankFX. Nice one...

No Trade and Patiently Waiting Friday

Friday
No trade

The 100-pip system performance has been updated. Btw, it was an abnormal trading week where we had overextended price reactions in many of the major markets. The unwinding of the carry trades also intensified to a scale that I've not experienced in a very long time.

Fortunately, we successfully avoided being caught out by this market behaviour and the system was pretty safe in this kind of trading environment.

I hope the market will get back to its normal trading mode next week. Note that we follow a very stringent trading plan with a fixed daily trade entry routine at all time.

Thursday 4 September 2008

100-pip Target Hit - USD/CHF

Those who followed the manual setup with the 100-pip trade entry conditions should get this. Meanwhile, the 100-pip EA booked a total of 56 pips.

We were 'IN ACTION' Thursday

European Session

USD/CHF +90 (minimum target hit!)

US and Late Session

After 'resting' for a few sessions, we scored two good profits immediately with the dynamic trade entry approach by the 100-pip system.

A Slow and Safe Start to the Week Tuesday

Late Session
End-of-session results:
No. of signal recommendations: 1
Crosses - CHF/JPY (+5 pips)

100-pip EA system
No. of auto-entries: no trade

Same routine, same system, even 10 markets were being monitored, but still no right setup for the 100-pip EA trading program. Obviously, it doesn't like these volatile market conditions. Hence, I am patiently waiting again...

On the other hand, I did make some news trades today.

Monday 1 September 2008

Carry Trade Unwinding and Sterling Pound Meltdown Monday

Monday
No trade

Despite a US holiday, I continued to work on the currency markets. The system found no trading setup today and remained on the sideline. Sometimes, there could be five signals a day, there could be none - this is how my system works ! I just laugh at it sometimes, as I have to take a relaxed approach and being discipline.
